New Year’s Eve 3 v. 3 Tournament

On December 31st, West Hartford Youth Hockey will be hosting the 3rd Annual New Year’s Eve 3 v. 3 tournament.  This event will be open to any travel skaters registered with West Hartford Hockey (and the Capital Wolves.  Space will be limited, though, so pick your teammates and get signed up!

Tournament Details

When:  December 31st, 2017 – first games start at 9:00 am, finishing up by 12:30 pm

Where:  Veteran’s Memorial Skating Rink

Eligibility:  This event is for West Hartford travel players only (all skaters must be registered with WHYHA or the Capital Wolves for the current season).

Tournament Fee:  $60 per team. One representative from each team should handle the online registration and payment.

Tournament Includes:  A minimum of 3 round-robin games per team, a medal round, and awards for 1st and 2nd place teams in each Division.

Structure:  Games will be 3 v. 3 “shinny” with no goalies, played in a cross ice format with pond hockey nets. Teams will register for one of 4 co-ed divisions: Mites, Squirts, Pee Wee, and Bantam. Tournament will involve up to 8-10 teams in each division, with the top 4 teams advancing to the Medal round to crown a champion. Teams will be 'flighted' if needed to ensure a competitive environment. This will be determined based on RSVP / Sign Up at the discretion of the WHYHA Coaching Director and President.

As you are all actively preparing your 3 v 3 teams, a new idea has been floated that we are going to introduce for this year's event, the The Family Division!

If you register your player to participate in the 3 v 3 Main Event, you will automatically be eligible to enter a team in the Family Division. A family team must include 1 adult and can include up to 3 kids, all that come from the same immediate family (no cousins or long-lost nephews that played in the NHL). There will be no charge for the Family Division entries. Extra players can be used as subs, especially since some of the adults will likely need oxygen.

The format will be the same and tiering / bracket details determined by # of entries.

We have at least a dozen families that immediately come to mind that would qualify for this Division and I can already envision a ton of fun here.

Registration for the Family Division will be open later today, so sign up!

Capital Wolves Families,

Thank you to all of you who were able to join us Friday night at Trinity, watching the Trinity Women square off against Amherst.  There were a ton of girls in Capital Wolves jerseys, cheering on the Bantams.  We even had some of the Trinity players reciprocate, attending the U10 Limited game bright and early the following morning.  A special thanks goes out to the Rob and Julie Walsh for setting up such a cool experience!

Capital Wolves at the Cranberry Tournament

Our Capital Wolves U10, U12, and U14 teams roadtripped to Cape Cod this Thanksgiving, and had a great experience bonding with each other, playing against some Massachusetts-based teams, winning some games, and having a ton of fun.  Our U12s made it to the finals in their division, playing strong against a tough Natick team, but ultimately ending as the runners-up.  Way to go girls!

A special thanks to all of those volunteers who helped make this a special experience - and first away tourney for our organization.

If you have any pictures, send them our way.  Also don't forget to follow us on Instagram and Facebook!
